Pirimiphos-methyl is a highly effective organophosphorus insecticide. Its action is based on the destabilization of the functioning of the hydrolytic enzyme acetylcholinesterase, due to which the mechanism of acetylcholine metabolism is disrupted. The accumulation of pirimiphos-methyl in the tissues of the central nervous system leads to a malfunction of various organs, which further contributes to the damage of the entire organism of the insect. Thanks to the absorption of the drug by the plant and after feeding on it by the pest, the drug is able to enter the organism of the pest via the intestinal route, contact route - through drops of the working solution. In addition, there is a fumigation effect - the effect on the insect through the respiratory system. The period of protective effect is 7-14 days for field and fruit crops, up to 8-12 months when fighting stock pests.
The drug is applied by ground spraying at a consumption rate of 0.8-1.2 l/ha, depending on the pest to be treated.
